Powys County Council is meeting the stringent low-carbon standards now expected of new public buildings by using biomass heating systems within a number of new schools. To date the council has installed a number of Ökofen wood pellet boilers supplied by Organic Energy with more planned. One such installation is Llanrhaeadr YM Mochnant Primary School where a new 850m2 school replaces the old Victorian building and provides primary education for approximately 70 children. PowerVerde, Inc. has announced the successful test of its new Organic Rankine Cycle (“ORC”), the PowerVerde 25/50 KW electric power system. The new system, a next generation design, is capable of producing 25 kilowatts of electrical power on any low grade heat (180 degree F).
